The Government encourages the use of rail transport for heavy and large freight to reduce road accidents and improve safety. Efforts will be made to enhance and fully utilize the existing rail system, supported by increased revenue and private sector participation through investment and track leasing. The National Transport Policy 2019–2030 aligns with the Vision for Shared Prosperity 2021–2030 by promoting inclusiveness, sustainability, and collaboration among the Government, industry players, and the public to drive economic growth and enhance public well-being through a sustainable transportation system.
