RAC and Proton have held a series of meetings to discuss the development of a Cargo Hub Terminal and a spur line that will connect Proton Tanjung Malim to RAC's railway network.
Proton and major automotive suppliers will be relocating to Proton City, Tanjung Malim under the development of the Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV).
AHTV supports the National Automotive Policy, which aims to boost investment, enhance skills, promote research, and support the development of Next Generation Vehicles (NxGV).
This development will help Proton achieve its target to increase production capacity from 70,000 units per year(2023) to 500,000 units per year (2035).
The initiative is also expected to stimulate KTMB's cargo train sector and support the "Road to Rail" initiative by the Ministry of Transport (MOT).
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 4 September 2025 between RAC, KTMB, and MSB, witnessed by the Prime Minister, for the development of the Cargo Hub Terminal to support the growth of the automotive industry within AHTV.
